The much awaited Monsoon season is around the corner. Finally, we will have some respite from the scorching heat but in this season there are a lot of health issues that we have to face because of the bacterial infection and breeding of the mosquitos. Some of the most common infectious monsoon diseases are dengue fever, malaria, leptospirosis, influenza, chikungunya et al. Here are some tips to keep yourself heathy during this monsoon season and avoid the infectious monsoon diseases.
As we know that our body is more prone to infections during the monsoon season because of the humidity that is ideal for the bacteria/viruses to flourish, we should eat hygienic and freshly prepared home cooked nutritious meals. This will not only keep us away from unnecessary infection but will also provide the required nutrients to our body and increase the immunity of our body to fight the infections. You should also avoid eating stale food.
Don’t allow stagnant water in your house or vicinity as it is the breeding ground for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are the carriers for several life threatening diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya et al. Wear full sleeves clothes to avoid mosquito bites, use a mosquito repellent and do a fumigation of your house regularly.
You should drink a lot of clean drinking water during the monsoon season to keep your body well hydrated. If your body is well hydrated, it will not catch any infection easily. Try to drink 3-4 liters of water every day. Avoid aerated drinks.
To boost your immunity to fight the infections during the monsoon season, you should increase your intake of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is naturally found in citrus fruits, amla, lemon et al.
You should often wash/sanitize your hands to avoid any kind of infection. Inculcate this habit in your children as well as they have higher risk of catching infection easily.
